Cristiano Ronaldo was born on February 5, 1985, in Portugal. He is the youngest of four children in his family.

Ronaldo faced many difficulties in his early life. When he was a child, his father died. So, his mother must work as a cook and cleaning person to bring up her children.

In school, Ronaldo did not want to study. “I was not interested in school. I was expelled after I threw a chair at the teacher”, he explained in an interview with UK newspaper The Mirror.

When Ronaldo was 10 years old, he really loved playing football. He missed meals and escaped out of his bedroom window to play. He was a hard-work person. After training, he used 30 minutes to practice skills.

At the age of 16, Ronaldo made an impression on Manchester United. Then the club paid Ronaldo more than £12 million - the highest transfer fee for a player of his age.

Ronaldo did not disappoint fans. In the 2004 FA Cup final, he scored three goals and help Manchester United get the championship.

In 2009, Ronaldo left Manchester United to play for Real Madrid. Ronaldo said: "I know that they are going to demand a lot of me to be successful at the club, but it means a new challenge and is going to help me be the best footballer."

In the 2016 European Championship final, between Portugal and France, Ronaldo suffered a knee injury in last 25 minutes, but Portugal still won.

Ronaldo's teammates said that he motivated them as team captain. “He gave us a lot of confidence”, Cedric Soares said after Portugal’s victory.
